Autonomous Cars?

What if everyday transportation were as simple as picking a destination and pressing a button? It’s not a far-fetched idea, especially now that General Motors has taken up the cause.

Autoevolution.com is reporting that GM has set a goal of 2020 for having completely autonomous cars. GM anticipates that the vehicles will be capable of partially driving themselves within five years, with a much more sophisticated self-driving system in place within 10 years time.

The hope is to have sensors in place, much like ones that already exist, to make driving safer. These sensors would be combined with GPS and computer mapping to effectively take over driving entirely, allowing the human driver to sit back and relax or do other work.

As a leader in GPS tracking for vehicles, we at Track Your Truck are always fascinated to learn about potential future vehicle technologies. When autonomous vehicles roll out, you can bet that Track Your Truck will be ready and waiting with GPS technologies designed to make doing business easier and more efficient.
